May 1990: Eye Movements and Reading Disability


Question: Do eye movements cause reading disability?

Answer: “The hypothesis that eye movements are the cause of reading difficulties…. Despite near universal scientific agreement that eye movements are not the major cause of reading disability…. One still sees educational entrepreneurs marketing eye movement techniques to teachers.” 697.
